Introduction
The recipients of the Notification e-mails generated by use of the Automation, by default see the Perfect Gym address in the From field. However, in case of a need, you can set up a different e-mail address and add the name displayed in the From field. This feature will also allow the recipients to reply to your e-mails, so that you could stay in close touch and see the correspondence in your club or employee e-mail inbox.
- To enable the use of your e-mail address in the Automation, your e-mail address must be verified. This article shows how to verify e-mails, which is a part of the From e-mail configuration process.
- We recommend that all users also verify the entire domain that they will use to send emails via Automation, and Newsletters. The minimum authentication we recommend is DKIM as best practice of email security.
Before you start
- Read this article for more information on the complete set-up flow.
- Remember, that you can not use an e-mail address you do not own. This is to prevent fraud.
- If you plan to send more than 5000 emails per day cumulatively across your entire domain, then DKIM authentication is crucial for you. Without it there is a maximum cap of 5000 emails per day. You can verify more than one domain in our system if needed.
How to verify your e-mail?
1. Go to the PGM -> Automation -> Notifications -> From Emails configuration
2. Click on the Add button, and:
3. Enter the e-mail address and press Save to add the email address.
4. When you press Save, the new email status is Pending. Go to your mailbox to finish the process.
Verification request will be sent to a given e-mail within a couple of minutes (in some cases up to 30 minutes).
If you haven't received the link, check the Amazon Policy
- Be aware that the verification request which you receive could be sent from the Perfect Gym SMTP service provider: Amazon Web Services.
- Click on the link in the e-mail to confirm the address.
The link will take you to this page, however, all you need to do is close it.
Within several minutes, the e-mail you have added will be marked as Verified.
- If it does not occur, please check if the added e-mail is correct, or review your SPAM box.
- You can Delete the incorrect e-mail address.
- You can also Resend the verification e-mail if you haven't received it before.
E-mail statuses
You can see the following statuses on the list:
- Pending - a verification e-mail has been sent to the given address, but there hasn't been any reply to it. The system didn't get your response yet. The state will change in a couple of minutes, after confirming the new e-mail. Be patient!
- Verified - the e-mail has been verified and can now be used in the Automation Center.
- Failed - verification has failed for some reason: the confirmation link was not clicked on, or the e-mail address was incorrect.
- Verification not required - verification is not required, e.g. you have configured your own SMTP server in the System settings.
How to verify your domain using DKIM
- First provide Perfect Gym with the domain that you would like to authenticate in our system for sending automated emails and newsletters.
- Our team will then create an identity for your domain in our email service and generate the domain keys and give them to you.
- Log in to your domain name system (DNS) and find the CNAME record.
- Copy and paste the 3 pairs of DKIM keys you were given (step 2 here), into the CNAME record.
- Wait for your domain provider to confirm that the record is updated – you can also ask your Perfect Gym representative to check this – but please be aware that it can take up to 72 hours.
- This should be completed within 72 hours or less – if you are not able to complete the update of your DNS in this time, then please inform your Perfect Gym representative, as we may need to restart the process on our side.
Hints
If you have a person or a service that administrates your email/domain (e.g. an internal IT specialist or perhaps your domain is registered by your website provider), they will be the best people to help you with this on your side. You will be able to find useful information regarding updating the CNAME record in your DNS on your domain provider's online help pages.
More information about DKIM authentication can be found here: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/pinpoint/latest/userguide/channels-email-manage-verify.html#channels-email-manage-verify-domain (refer to section "Verifying a domain", point number 8. which is the point where we hand over the CNAME records for the client to input into their DNS - everything prior to this was handled on PG side)
