All barcode scanners that are working in emulate COM port. In the device manager, they are seen as “Ports (COM & LPT). In the PosWeb you have to check the “Barcode use fixed port’ checkbox and insert the right port COM and a baud rate (commonly used baud rate is 9600). KB articles
Keyboard scanner
All card & barcode readers are working in the keyboard mode – in the control panel/device manager they are shown as standard keyboard. They are sending card’s number as simple text. In such a configuration, there is a need to insert a prefix and a suffix after the card scan. This condition has to be fulfilled because without a prefix and a suffix this reader will not work in an integrated way with our system. KB Articles
MAGTEK credit card reader
Scanner dedicated to read data that is saved on the customer’s credit or debit card – it works in keyboard mode (BarcodeKeyboardReader).
Reader’s Configuration:
- Keyboard scanner Sufix 13
- Keyboard scanner Prefix 160,53
- KeyboardScannerLengthDecoded 0
- Keyboard card reader propagates barcode scans false
The reader is working on two screens:
- Change of the customer’s payment form (if customer’s PP is sharing the CC payment method)
- Online payment in POS
Fields on the sheet will be filed automatically with this information:
- card number
- expiration date
- card owner
