Introduction
This article covers the physical installation of the PG AU Controller (R830):
- This article is designed for 3rd Party Installers and PG Technical Support
- Requirements for installation must be scoped before install
Before you start
Before installation please ensure that you have completed the following:
- Configured the controller following this internal guide.
- Please refer to this PDF for wiring:
- Scoped the requirements of installation such as power, relevant readers, and the type of lock that is being connected.
- Below is a diagram that gives a basic overview of how everything connects, as well as, cabling requirements
Controller Dimensions
-
120mm x 65mm x 10mm
Installation Instructions
Mounting of the Controller
The controller can be mounted using one of two methods:
- Din Rail Mounted using either a Din Rail or the included Mounting Block
- Using the 4 mounting holes on the back plate of the unit
To use the 4 mounting holes you must first remove the Din Rail mount. This can be done by removing the 4 screws on the back of the unit, then removing the two screws attaching the Din Rail mount to the backplate
Power Supply Options
There are two options for powering the controller:
- 12-24V External Power Supply Connected to Vin and Ground
- PoE that meets the 802.3af standard (available from a PoE Switch or external PoE power supply)
Reader Installation
The Controller has 4 available Reader inputs:
- 2x RS232 Serial Ports (With 12v and 5v Power available)
- 2x Weigand Ports (with 12v Power Available)
- For a more detailed description of installing each reader please refer to the relevant reader model found in Knowledge Base
NOTE: The Serial ports are as simple as plugging into the port. If you need to cut the connector cable at any point you MUST make sure that you connect to the Ground Connection at the top of the reader or into the original ground connection on the cable that is plugging into the controller.
Lock/Door Installation
- The Controller has 2 available lock outputs. (ONLY 1 DOOR Mode is available) B1 is the only available lock at current
- The relay can be configured in software to be Normally Open (NO) or Normally Closed (NC)
- The relay time can be configured in Software
To wire these simply wire one wire into B1+ and one wire into B1-.
Indicator Light Installation
The Controller has 3 available indicator Lights, at current only two are used. These are:
- A2 - RedLampTrigger
-
A3 - GreenLampTrigger
To wire these you can connect one lead (12v) to the ACOM input, and each light to A2 and A3 respectively, with the ground of the light going to GND.
Video Output
- The controller has a micro HDMI output on the side of the device that can be used to connect a monitor. This allows for access monitor to be run in a web browser without the need for an additional machine to be running.
Low Profile Adaptor
When there is limited space for installing the controller there is the option to use the low profile adaptor that is included with the controller.
The Steps to install the low profile adaptor are as follows:
- Remove the power and Weigand port terminal blocks plugged into the controller
- Remove the 4 screws on the top of the unit
- Unplug the two RS232 Port connectors
- Unscrew the two RS232 Port connectors from the top plate
- Remove the existing side plate and replace it with the low profile plate
- Screw the RS232 connectors into the low profile plate
- Plug the RS232 cables back into the board
- Replace the top plate and screw it back into place
