Introduction
In this article you will learn how to delete Class Categories and why this action is not always available. In a club, sometimes a class category ends up being unused - whether it's due to removing certain classes or merging categories into a more general one. To avoid cluttering the system with unused class categories it might be a good idea to delete them.
- This article will show you step by step how to delete Class Category.
- This article will be helpful to PG Champion and Club Administrators.
Before you start
Understanding classes - before removing anything related to classes you should understand how the class system works. For more information go to this article.
Role permissions - make sure that employees responsible for these operations have appropriate permissions, which allow editing class types and deleting class categories.
Go to PGM -> Clubs -> System Permissions
To delete a class category you need these system permissions:
Instruction
Check if the category can be deleted
If there are no Class types connected to a Class category, that category can be deleted. To check that, go to PGM -> Classes -> Class Categories and press 3 dots next to a category you want to remove:
- If the 'Delete' button shows up this Category is not being used and can be safely deleted.
- If the button is not there, all Class types linked to this category have to be edited.
Delete the category from class types
Go to PGM -> Classes -> Classes -> Class types. To see only appropriate Class types, select a Category you want to delete in the filter.
There are two ways to remove a category from Class types. If there are multiple types within a category, each one can be unlinked via a different method:
- Change a class type for a different one. To do this, press 3 dots icon next to a type you want to edit and press the Edit button.
This is recommended if you plan on using this Class type in the future, but want to change its category.
- Delete the class type. To do this, press 3 dots icon next to a type you want to delete and press the Delete button.
This is recommended if you don't plan on providing classes of this type in any of your clubs in the future.
Keep in mind classes that are already in timetable will not be deleted along with it's corresponding type. They will keep the deleted Class type until you explicitly change it. You won't be able to create new classes of deleted type.
- After making sure that there are no Class types of a selected category, you should be able to go back to the first point of instruction and remove it.
