Introduction
A group allows you to implement a progression-based program, in a recurring class at an interval of the club's choosing. Group classes can utilize skills-based assessments to drive level progression to program completion.

Before you start
Make sure you have access to the Course module, please contact the Perfect Gym Sales Team for more information.
To get access to the group module, go to PGM -> Clubs -> System Permissions and find the permission: SystemAdministration/ClassesGroups
Feature description
To access Groups, go to PGM -> Classes -> Groups.
This will display the following screen with all groups detailed.
Filter sort - selected columns can be sorted ascending or descending by pressing the arrow to the right of the column name.
Name - name of the group, this is a custom name created during the group creation process. Using the filter box you can search by text for the group name. Clicking on the name will take you to the group. More information on this screen is listed below under the heading Group.
Club - the name of the club that is running this group. Using the filter box you can search by text for the club name.
Trainer - name of the employee responsible for this class.
Start date / End date - the start date of the course when enrollments happen, this may not be the first class date. End date of the course if an end date was set. If the end date is blank this is known as an ongoing course.
Members - how many members are enrolled in this group / maximum capacity of the group.
Vacancies - how many vacancies are in the group, if the infinity symbol is present then no maximum capacity is set in the group.
Age limit - minimum and maximum age limits of the group. This is maintained in PGM -> Classes -> Age limits.
Waitlists - for more information about waitlists, please look at the following guide.
Copy of group schedule - if using Semesters/Terms, this will allow you to copy all groups from one semester into another. Access to this functionality can be restricted via System permissions, allowing you to control which employee roles are able to copy group schedules. Learn more.
Add new class group - to create a new group, press Add new class group. More information about this feature is located in this guide.
Group
After pressing on the name of the group, this will display more information about the group such as the classes and members enrolled into the group.
Summary Tab
The summary tab displays three areas, course settings, upcoming classes, and previous classes.
Course overview - this will display information about when the course started and the current/max members enrolled in the group.
Press Edit group will allow you to edit selected details of the group, Clone will allow you to clone the group with exact/similar details, information about both of these options are listed below.
Upcoming classes - this will display the next 5 classes in this group. Pressing Attendance will display the same screen used in PGM -> Classes -> Timetable when looking at the individual class where you can manage attendances, new enrollments, transfers etc.
To the right of the class, you can press the additional option button to do the following:
- Edit - edit the class such as time, date, trainer, and zone.
- Cancel - cancel the individual class from running.
- Delete - delete the class, this will remove the class all together, and only used if you plan to stop running this group.
Last class attendance - this will display who last attended the class, you can press the additional option button to the right of each user to do the following:
- Show club member profile - Will open the club member profile in the same tab, if you wish to open it in a new tab, right-click and press Open in new tab on your browser.
- Sign out from this class - This will sign out the member from this class, allowing you to provide a return/refund on the class.
Course settings
This will display additional information about the course. Pressing the edit button will allow you to edit the group, more information listed below.
Classes
This will display more information about the classes within this group.
You can add additional classes to this group by pressing Add class. (note with cost per class model, this will charge the club member for these new classes).
The tabs Upcoming, Previous, and Cancelled will filter these classes.
Pressing Attendance will display the same screen used in PGM->Classes->Timetable when looking at the individual class where you can manage attendances, new enrollments, transfers etc.
To the right of the class, you can press the additional option button to do the following:
- Edit - edit the class such as time, date, trainer, and zone.
- Cancel - cancel the individual class from running.
- Delete - delete the class, this will remove the class all together, and only used if you plan to stop running this group.
Members
This will display information about the members, Using the date filter you can search for past members. It is recommended to modify members in the timetable.
From R93 version, members enrolled with a Trial session will have also a separate Tag: Trial lesson
Cloning groups
Cloning a group will allow you to copy the same group and classes when you are expanding your offering. This will create a new group and classes.
To clone a group, on PGM->Classes->Groups press the option icon to the right of the group you wish to clone and press Clone.
This can also be done by going into the group and pressing a clone button.
This will display the following screen, which will use the existing settings of the group.
It is recommended to change the name of the group, start date, or the enrollment available from date if you wish to start enrollments from a future date.
After pressing Next the class setup screen is displayed. Press Save to continue.
This will generate both the group and the classes, this will display a progress screen and a completion screen when finished.
Editing groups
Editing a group is possible, however, only selected options are available to edit.
To edit the group, this can be done in a couple of ways, by pressing edit on the main group screen.
Or by pressing Edit group in the group summary screen.
This will display a new screen where selected attributes can be edited.
Name - the name of the group, this will be visible in both PGM and Client Portal (this can be left blank and will populate if auto name is enabled).
Auto Name - this will allow you to auto populate the group name based on the configuration of the group. To use the auto name feature, contact our Technical Support team to enable the Courses.Groups.AutoNamingTemplate setting and advise the naming convention you want to have set up. See hints section for the naming convention options available.
Description - additional information about the group, will be visible in the Client Portal under About group.
Class category - this cannot be modified, this connects the enrollment rule and class type to the group.
Activity type/level - both of these fields can be edited if you wish to change the level of the group without recreating it. However, you must also edit the class connected to this group with the new class type.
Club - this cannot be modified.
Trainer - the trainer of the group can be modified, the trainer for the group may not be the same for the classes, If you are updating the trainer on both group and class, ensure you complete both tasks.
Start and end of the course - this cannot be modified.
Max number of students - change the capacity of the group - Note: you will also need to edit the class capacity after changing the capacity here.
Age limit - changing the age limit of the class - Note: you will need to have the class type also displaying the age limit.
Availability in applications - set the enrolment rule to be available in selected applications.
- Client portal – external client portal, which a client can see.
- Kiosk – internal client portal, both, and kiosk application.
- Reception tablet - internal client portal - Reception tablet mode
- API - external API connection.
Lock group - the ability to lock the group, this will prevent new enrollments and transfers into the group.
Press Save to finish editing the group.

The example below shows the above options separated by a line
